I suffered the low signal disk wipe last night. Sad

It turns out that water had got into the aerial lead and run into the splitter. Over a period of time this had damaged the splitter until there was insufficient signal.

So I've now got 1TB free space - who needs 200 crime dramas anyway? There was nothing on there that warranted the pain of Scan & Match.

It'll be interesting to see whether an empty drive gives faster response times.
Our 5810 with 1TB is positively treacle-like (and yes, I've disabled Interactive).

Be interesting to see how your TopMedic works on such a corrupted disc Geoff. Smile

Well I've just repaired a disk for Paulie_UK and I'm waiting to hear back from him (he is away for a few days). TopfHDRW couldn't recover anything significant but I think I got just about everything back for him (including the original filenames/date info). I did however need to make changes to the TopMedic logic as I investigated the drive. I ended up having lots of little "temporary operations" that had to be run in a particular sequence to perform the complete fix. I'm now trying to incorporate these back into the main logic of TopMedic; some will not be easy! i.e. I won't be releasing it any time soon

But it is still usable by me so if anyone has a corrupted disk. I'm your man.

Geoff

Was it the brown stuff Andy? Your aerial lead, that is.
