I have two topfield 5810s, both with the PSU repairs - both done within the last twelve months - and with up-to-date firmware and mystuff (identical) and both with 256g disks.
Turned on Toppy 1 tonight to watch olympic closing ceremony recorded on Sunday - and message appeared about formatting disk - chose cancel - but the disk had lost everything and went archive - but everything including the taps have gone.
Went to Toppy 2 connected to a different TV in a different room - and bizarely the exact same thing has happened. Both were fine 3 days ago.
Q1. Any idea what is going on - could this be a date/time related bug?
Q2. It is not life and death - but I am really sorry to have lost these recordings - any suggestions as to the possibility of rec file recovery? I have a usb/idea adaptor kit.

You need to connect the disk directly to a PC running TopfHDRW. It can probably receiver most, if not all of your recordings.
Check for duplicate channels - it's the most likely cause of disk corruption (when the PSU is OK). |

| Thanks Andy - I will try that - will it also recover the contents of the Program folder and the taps (mystuff) etc. or should I start again? |

There's no way to tell what it will or won't recover - you'll just have to see.
There is a known firmware bug that can cause disk wipes when recording a channel with poor signal quality (or watching one with time shifting switched on).
Removing unwatched channels is the best way to reduce the risk of this occurring.
Also, on a 5810 running MyStuff, it is essential to reduce your channels to no more than a total of 40 TV and Radio in total - easy to do with Channel Organiser if you delete the pay, porn, shopping and unwanted radio channels. With a full set of channels, you run the risk of memory corruption, which could potentially have been the cause of the problem you've just had.
See Toppy Memory for more details.
