Toppy 5810.

Had this model for a couple of years, correct firmware and have some taps installed. Just recently when scheduling recordings on BBC 1 it is duplicating the recording for the same channel at the same time.

If I set a recording of say Eastenders, on the timer settings it shows a recording setting for Eastenders at 19.30 and another recording for the same programme at the same time although without the name of Eastenders.

Anyone else experiencing this.

Could it be something to do with the signal being sent out.

The most likely cause is duplicate channels. Maybe you are picking up signals from more than one transmitter? Check in the high channel numbers.

Almost certainly duplicate channels. Possibly because you've scanned for channels without doing a Factory Reset first, or because you can receive signals from more than one transmitter.

MyInfo (see also Help! in my sig) will tell you whether you have duplicates (and offer to delete them for you).

The Windows program TopManager can make it easy to check your Toppy's configuration from your PC, and also udpate your forum sig so that everybody else can see your Toppy setup too, which allows us to give you more accurate / targeted help.

FastScanGUI can be used to only scan from one transmitter, to avoid getting the duplicates in the first place (and effectively does the Factory Reset for you).

Channel Organiser can be used to automate deleting duplicates and any other unwanted channels (e.g. Paid, shopping, porn, etc.), and can remember your preferences and update configuration files for other TAPs if you want it to.

It does appear that I have duplicate channels.

I will follow your recommendations, thanks meantime.

Update.

I've installed the TAP and with this I selected my transmitter and did all the rest.

I no longer have duplicate channels and when my wife updated all her recordings again everything seems to be OK so thanks for your help.

Before I go perhaps I could have a minor question answered.

In the timer listings it shows either an R or S depending on single or series which I am aware of but there is sometimes an M. What does this stand for.

No idea what an M is, suggest you look through the manual.

It would be a good idea for you to post your MyInfo log file just in case there is anything else that might affect your Christmas viewing (other than the schedules!)

Assuming you have a Windows PC, load my TopManager program (link in my signature) and use it to display MyInfo Log. Then cut and paste into this thread. You can also use TM to set up your forum signature.
If you don't have windows then you will have to transfer MyInfo Log manually and cut and paste i.e. the old way

Merry Christmas
Geoff

I am assuming that you are referring to the native list (probably not running MyStuff??): the 'M' is for automatically 'Recommended' recordings - if you set your timers manually, you should get an option to 'record with recommendation' if it thinks that there is a similar program that you might like (a pale shaddow of the 'thumbs up / thumbs down' of the TiVo).

Chris.
