I have produced a cut down version of MHEG Control with just the Interactive switching and associated reselection of subtitles on leaving interactive services.
See here for more details, and download from here.
As far as I know it should work on a TF5810, but have not got one to try it on.

Splendid!
Works a treat on TF5810.
Just switches MHEG on and off without all the other options in MHEG Control, and without having to go into Toppy menus.
Only possible tweak would be option to load IS automatically when MHEG has loaded (have to press red button or text button again), and hiding/moving/shrinking MHEG Loading message in middle of screen.
Cheers

If you want to get rid of the messages, a MhegOnOff.mcf with all zero values for the colours should do the trick.

Yes that seems to have done the trick.
Unless if I try it straight after the toppy has booted, it may stop at the red DOG or show the "Interactive services currently unavailable" message. But it would sometimes do that using the toppy menu anyway.
Putting 0s in the mcf file just makes it all black.

@goo - thanks for the fedback.
Have released version A2 with following changes:
(1) Fix fro TF5810 compatibility problem
(2) Three display options - as before, small in top LH corner & none.
as before, see here for more details, and download from here.
Unfortunately not had much time to check, but hope its OK.

Loaded in AutoStart as MhegOnOffNow1.tap, and it does exactly as you said it would in the pdf.

I have a couple of oddities happening with this, whereas the old MhegControl worked fine.
1. The "Waiting for" message came up when I tried to use the red button to skip back a bit on a recording. Obviously, Mheg doesn't work during playback.
2. QVC interactive (yes, yes) didn't seem to work with the original heavy version, but tries to with the new one. The message comes up and the system locks.
Any ideas why the change? Load order maybe? It was the last tap installed. And the original was removed first. |

Same here - tried to skip forward on the red button using Quickjump configured colour buttons (not using MyStuff jumping) and Mhegonoff tried to start - very difficult to get rid of the 0noff messages! Just trying this 'lite' version, but it doesn't seem to work in the same way as the full version. Had to stop using it. |

Wouldn't that just be down to load order, i.e. QJ needs to be loaded before MHEG On/Off?

Julie Not really, but maybe, as MHEG Control B2 is listed as running before QJ and the red button works OK in playback (not starting MHEG B2, but jumping), but the new 'ONOff' in the same load order is started by the red button in playback. So there is some working difference in the new 'lite' version as compared to the old. Maybe the old version disregards the red button in playback, but the 'lite' version doesn't. |

Am not seeing the playback problem. The red button works as it should skipping back. MHEG On/Off doesn't hijack the button press
Have also seen the QVC interactive problem. |

Was a bit over-enthusiastic with the scissors when removing MHEG Control code! Have produced version A3 with:
* Inhibit during playback & time-shifting
* Timeout if no interactive data being transmitted. (MHEG Control used a data file to identify such channels, but I wanted to avoid that complication).
* Can use "Exit" while waiting for load operations if you change you mind.
See here for more details, and download from here.
With regards to QVC, my IDTV didn't think it has interactive/text when I tried - can't easily try on my Toppy as I have deleted it.

| QVC does have interactive, so people can read the exciting details of products they can buy. There is no direct jumping by page number though. |
