I've just moved and my new place has a Sky dish but no roof aerial!
Is there any way of getting the Toppy to work with a Sky dish?
I'm anticipating the answer to that is "No, bugger off", so my second question is:
Can anyone recommend the best internal aerial I could use to get good digital reception?
If the answer to that is also "No, bugger off" then I am left scratching my head and with a Toppy I am currently using as a doorstop.
Cheers |

You can't use the dish. Depending on where you are an internal aerial MIGHT work, but its unlikely. You need a decent roof aerial, really.
So, that's one 'No, bugger off!' and a 'maybe'.

Unfortunately a roof aerial is not an option since the landlord has vetoed it.
So I suppose that leaves me with the internal aerial as the only option - so I need recommendations for the best, most UBER, internal aerial of DOOM.
All suggestions gratefully received etc |

Maybe you should try talking nice to your landlord again. Surely it is in his interests if YOU were to pay for the professional installation of a decent aerial?

It does depend how far you are from the transmitter how wel an indoor setup will work.
have a look at the links from here
There is a site that tells you how far away your nearest transmitter is.

| I can see the Blackhill transmitter from my house and the Toppy in the upstairs room can get a signal on some muxes without an aerial plugged in so an indoor aerial might work. Probably better looking on an av or tv forum. |

I'm miles from Darvel but can pick up with a set-top aerial no bother (unless I walk in front of it ). But its very much hit or miss.

just try buying one from somewhere like Argos - good returns policy (but do check the current state of the returns policy!) or buy off the internet so you know you can return it (distance selling regulations).
plug it in and give it a go - best way to find out for your particular situation/location.
maybe even buy 2 - a cheap and a 'super, powered, booster' type one. You may be surprised as to how well these work.
( I used to run an ondigital box off a super, booster indoor aerial no probs - £15, but I was within 2 miles of crystal palace transmitter at the time)

| Look on the bright side - you won't have problems with pigeons (hopefully). |
